The album name, right on the photo
A subtle badge on every thumbnail shows which album(s) a photo belongs to — personal or shared. See where each image lives at a glance, without opening it.
The file name on hover
Hover over a photo to see its original file name — handy to check or find a specific shot.
Rename your photos
Give your images a clear name ("Lea's birthday") instead of an unreadable IMG_2043, and find it easily with the search field.

Your photos and videos stay on European servers. No data reselling, no advertising analysis.
One subscription for the whole family
Up to 5 people, including you: everyone has their own account and private photos, a shared storage space and albums shared in one click. Nobody is held hostage: if someone leaves, or if the subscription stops, everyone keeps their photos and can continue on their own.
Interface and support in English
Localised interface and human support; features useless outside Europe (Google Cast) are removed.
A desktop app we build ourselves
Unlike most photo libraries, Fotomania has its own native macOS app (Windows coming soon): your photos are directly accessible from your computer, like a folder.
Albums that look like you
A colour, a cover photo, a header banner at the top of the album and how it's framed: every album takes on the look you give it. The colour stays personal — in a shared album, everyone organises their own way without imposing it on anyone else.
A calendar of your events — exclusive to Fotomania
Name your moments and place them on a calendar: “Summer holiday” from 10 July to 10 August, “Claire's wedding” on the 5th. You give the dates, your photos file themselves — including the ones you import later. A timeline of the whole year shows what you lived through at a glance. It differs from an album: an album is a list of photos, an event is a slice of time. Available on the web and in the mobile app.
Your family tree — a Fotomania exclusive
Build your family tree and link your photos to a person, a couple or a whole family: click your grandmother and find every photo of her. Face recognition automatically suggests the photos of each ancestor, and your tree exports to the standard GEDCOM format. No other photo library offers this. Available on the web and in the mobile app.
A camera inside the app
Take the picture from Fotomania: a proper viewfinder — photo or video, self-timer, framing grid, exposure, zoom with 1×, 2× and 5× shortcuts — saved to your phone's own library straight away, then sent on without waiting for the next backup. Rather not fill up your phone? Turn on direct mode (Settings → Backup): the photo goes to Fotomania without being saved to the phone's library, and with no network it waits inside the app. And if you are inside an album when you press the shutter, the photo goes into it directly: no sorting after the fact.
Copies and bursts, spotted for you
A small badge on a thumbnail: that photo exists in several copies. A coloured dot: those photos were taken in a row — a burst, so keep the best one. Two quiet signals, placed right in the grid, on computer and on mobile alike. That is where sorting thousands of photos begins.
A locked folder, for what is nobody's business but yours
Identity papers, bank documents, photos you would rather not have scroll past while showing someone your phone: put them in the locked folder. They leave the timeline, the albums, search and memories — no longer visible anywhere else. It takes your code to open, or your fingerprint on mobile. And they stay backed up like the rest, just out of sight.
Your photos over time, at a glance
In “Explore” — on the web, and in the “Collections” tab of the mobile app — the Dates section draws your library as a map: each year takes up an area proportional to how many photos it holds. The summer you photographed everything jumps right out. One click opens the year month by month, another takes you straight to that period.
Check that a folder really made it
After a large drop from your computer, you no longer remember which folders went through. Drag your folder tree into Utilities: Fotomania tells you, folder by folder, what is already saved and what is missing — without uploading anything, your files never leave your computer. Missing photos are then sent with a single button.
Shaky videos, stabilised
A video filmed at arm's length is hard to watch. Ask for “Stabilise video”: our servers, in France and Germany, recompute it and let you know when it is ready. The stabilised version is added next to the original, never in its place — and when the result would not be good enough, we tell you why instead of spoiling your memory.
Your receipts and papers, sorted on their own
Fotomania spots the photos with text in them and sorts them by kind: receipts and invoices, business cards, ID papers, bank details, screenshots. In six languages, read on our servers in Europe. Sensitive papers move to the locked folder in one tap.
Blurry photos, spotted
Camera shake, missed focus, a photo taken in your pocket: Fotomania finds them, blurriest first. “Trash”, or “It's intentional” for a photo blurred on purpose.
The real date of your old photos
A scanned album print carries the date of the scan. When the date is printed in a corner, Fotomania reads it and offers to put it back — you approve, the previous date is kept.
Red-eye and blurred faces
In “Fix”: tap a red eye and the pupil turns dark again; tap a face and it's blurred before you share. Always as a copy, the original stays untouched, worked out on your device.
