Delete my Fotomania account
Last updated: 17 July 2026
This page explains how to request the deletion of your Fotomania account and its associated data, what gets erased, what we are required to keep, and how long it takes.
How to request deletion
Send an email to contact@fotomania.app from the email address of your Fotomania account, with the subject line “Delete my account”.
Writing from the account address lets us verify the request really comes from you. If you no longer have access to that mailbox, write from another address and say so: we will then ask for another way to verify your identity, so that nobody can have your account deleted on your behalf.
We acknowledge your request within 72 hours and confirm by email once the deletion has been carried out.
What is deleted
Deleting your account permanently erases:
• your photos and videos, together with their resized versions; • your albums, your share links and any sharing with your family; • the metadata attached to your photos, including location data, face groupings and smart search results; • your account and sign-in credentials; • the accounts of the family members attached to your subscription, along with their photos.
Erasure covers both our servers and our backups.
What is retained, and why
Two categories of data outlive your account, because the law requires it:
• Accounting records related to your subscription (invoices, amounts, dates) are kept for 10 years, in line with our accounting and tax obligations. They contain no photos. • A technical log of the emails we sent you (recipient, message type, date) is kept as proof of delivery. It contains neither the content of those messages nor your photos.
We never use this data for any other purpose, and your photos are never part of it.
Time frames
Your request is handled within 30 days at most, as required by the GDPR. In practice we usually handle it within a few days.
Once deletion starts, your data disappears from our servers immediately, and from our backups within 30 days at most — the time needed for the affected backups to expire under their rotation cycle.
Deleting your account or cancelling your subscription?
These are two different things, and it matters not to confuse them.
Cancelling stops your subscription from renewing. Your account then becomes read-only at the end of the paid period: you can still view and download your photos for 30 days. After that, without resubscribing, your data is deleted, following an email notice containing a recovery link. So you keep time to retrieve your memories.
Account deletion, on the other hand, is immediate and final: there is no notice, no read-only period, and no way back. Do download your photos before writing to us.
A question before you decide?
If you want to leave because something is not working, write to us first at contact@fotomania.app: we would rather fix the problem. You can also export all of your photos at any time from the app, without deleting your account.
